1. Testing at Home

As the number of cases rises again, virus specialists are emphasizing the significance of self-testing for COVID from home. A new study out of Michigan that examined the effect of at-home COVID testing concluded that they’re crucial during spikes.

Infection rates were much lower in cities that got free At-home testing from the state after one of the major variation spikes, according to this study.

2. Expired at-home tests

At-home COVID tests are engineered to last longer than one may assume. According to William Schaffner, MD, a virus specialist and lecturer in the Department of Infectious Diseases at Vanderbilt Medical University, we now have tests that have been demonstrated to be effective for a year, and some according to him even longer. 3. COVID test Expiry dates Extension

Once the manufacturer obtains additional stability testing results, such as 1-1.5 years, the test company can contact the FDA and ask for an extension of the expiration date, which will also be updated on the CDC website.

4. Your tests’ expiry dates might not be correct

According to Schaffner, the expiry dates on certain at-home COVID tests may not be accurate related to the time they last due to continual testing.

Depending on when the actual check was done and given to the retailer or mailed to you from the federal government, you might have taken a sample from the same producer with a shorter or longer expiration date.
