The majority of people have already experienced bloating. It is an uncomfortable sensation that makes our daily activities seem hard.

To get rid of bloating, you must first identify the exact reason behind it to be able to find its proper solution.

Keep reading to know 5 reasons of bloating that Dr. Eric Berg specified and their solutions.

1. The time of Bloating is Essential

Bloating is often the result of the food you consume. Some nutrients that lead to this are junk food, sugar alcohol, greens, dairy, snacks, etc.

It is also important to know that introducing a new ingredient into your diet may cause bloating. In order to identify these foods, remembering the time of bloating is indispensable.

Knowing these ingredients allows you to identify it and simply avoid it.

Dr. Berg suggests an easy trick to help alleviate bloating. Massage right underneath the rib cage and hold your finger lightly from one to two minutes in that area. This helps decongest the organs and mitigate the irritating feeling.

2. Stress Causes Bloating

Nowadays, stress and anxiety have become really common in our lives. Everyone experiences this stress differently.

Some people feel it in their stomach because it causes inflammation and swelling in the mid-section of our belly which leads to bloating.

In fact, minor stress can disrupt the harmony of bacteria in our digestive system. Even after the stress has been relieved, the imbalance may persist.

As suggested by Dr. Berg, getting exposed to the sun helps clear out your mind and alleviate your stress. Going to the beach is also beneficial to reduce the feeling of stress in the gut.

3. Lack of Acids that Help Digest Foods

When you suffer from a lack of acids, your stomach, being the first organ that starts the process of digestion, plus other organs, take a longer time to accomplish their task. Therefore, you will stay bloated all day long.

To help with this issue, you can take apple vinegar with water on an empty stomach first in the morning or with a meal to help with digestion problems.

4. Less Enzymes in the Pancreas

Among the reasons for bloating is a deficiency of enzymes in the pancreas. This condition is called pancreatic insufficiency.

It indicates that your pancreas suffers from a dysfunction that makes it no longer produce sufficient digestive enzymes.

Dr. Berg’s piece of advice for this problem is cutting down high carbs because the more sugar you have, the more insulin is produced, the more the pancreas has to work hard.

5. SIBO Can Cause Bloating

Another reason for bloating is small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). When colonic bacteria from the small intestine overflow into it, the small intestine becomes contaminated.

These bacteria have the potential to multiply to the point where they outnumber the bacteria that are meant to balance them.

However, if there are too many of one species and not enough of another, the balance may become off. Some bacteria actually suck up the gasses emitted by others.

For the people suffering from SIBO, Dr. Berg suggests avoiding probiotics and fiber for a while (about two months) to reset their system.

At the same time, he advises them to try consuming oregano and garlic because they act like natural antibiotics. Intermittent fasting will also help reset and clean your intestine.

Despite being largely experienced by people, bloating remains a minor symptom that rarely indicates any serious health problems. That is why there have been many old recipes to help alleviate it.
