Everyone has been patiently waiting for summer, but it seems as though winters are getting colder and summers are getting hotter, so with the hot summer days already here, everyone just looks for some water to cool off in and have a little bit of fun while they are at it.
Obviously, going to the beach is the go-to summer activity for many of us. In fact, about 40 percent of Americans said that heading to the beach is their favorite activity to do as soon as it starts getting hotter.
Unfortunately though, as enjoyable as it might be to head to the beach first thing, many dangers lurk within! Professionals, however, are trying to bring awareness to something else that could be potentially harmful to you.

A fun summer day could go from extremely fun to very unpleasant or even painful. Why? You might ask? Well it is due to this bacteria that is found in the water, and professionals are warning against it.
This bacteria, according to experts, is basically flesh-eating. A doctor has also added that this bacteria could potentially harm the intestinal tract in an awfully quick and timely manner.
You might be wondering how does this flesh-eating bacteria enter your body in the first place? Well, it turns out that it can do so pretty easily.
If you have got any scar or scab, or simply the smallest wound, it could allow this bacteria to literally get into and under your skin pretty easily.
This might sound surprising or disgusting but even fresh tattoos can allow them in. In fact, a man has been diagnosed with this after going into the water with a new tattoo that has not properly healed yet.
Because of this, doctors are warning against going into the ocean if you have any cuts, be it new or not healed properly.
You should totally stay out of the water until your skin cells have completely restored the proper barrier that would not allow this bacteria in.
And yes, tattoos are also included, so either wait for autumn to get that new tattoo or stay out of the water until your cool summer tattoo heals completely.
Many experts also confirm how dangerous this bacteria can be, stating that many end up losing their lives to this. The infection progresses so fast, which makes it even more dangerous as the more you wait before seeking medical care, the worse the chances of survival.
The bacteria can actually damage the tissues under the skin, affecting the surrounding muscle and organs; This can eventually be fatal. Not to mention the unbearable pain that comes along!

But this is absolutely not meant to make you panic or avoid swimming altogether; just be extra careful before you get in the water and preferably scan your body for any minor cuts you may have not paid attention to.
