Dietary supplements were invented to do exactly what their name suggests, boost your diet with some needed vitamins to keep you on track, especially if those vitamins are something you lack.
It could be vitamin C, or calcium, or perhaps it is vitamin D. Regardless of which one you are taking, supplements have been mainly used for that purpose.
In fact, according to experts, this is considered to be a huge business. Its success reaches about 30 billion every single year in the US alone.
However, just because this is a successful business, it does not mean that professionals would not question its efficiency or whether or not it actually provides any health benefits.

To add to this pile of doubt, some supplements were actually found to be harmful for consumption, according to a warning made by the FDA.
If you’re interested to know more, then simply keep on reading, more about this will be below.
Many supplements have actually been linked to quite a few health complications. This happens because supplements differ in their creation, and some could harm you more than they would benefit you, especially if they are overconsumed.
A perfect example of that would be vitamin A. Vitamin A plays an important role in keeping the different systems in your body running smoothly such as your immune system as well as your reproductive system.
It also helps your hair grow and become healthier; those who are looking to grow their hair usually end up taking vitamin A for that.
However, taking too much of it can actually harm you and cause you to lose your hair instead.
To avoid this, a doctor should be consulted to confirm whether or not you can actually take vitamin A, and in case you do, the proper dosage should be given by a professional after assessing many other things.
Aside from this, the FDA is actually warning about another supplement that could be harmful to consumers.
The FDA recently issued a warning to 4 companies after finding out that they have been selling honey-based products illegally.
Sources found that the warnings were issued to the following companies: Thirtsyrun LLC, MKS Enterprise LLC, Shopaax.com, and 1am USA Incorporated dba Pleasure Products USA.
These warnings were issued because active drug ingredients were found in the supplements but were not disclosed on the labels.
They targeted libido enhancement while being marked as “food”, and they also made certain claims about boosting one’s health etc.
These supplements can cause serious health issues to patients, even more if they are simultaneously taking other medications.
The supplements in question were proven to contain 2 ingredients known as tadalafil as well as viagra, these are already FDA approved and their use targets treating erectile dysfunction in men.
The problem here is that their inclusion violates the federal law, because they can absolutely not be used together in this manner without medical supervision as they can lead to a dangerously low level of blood pressure.
