It seems only logical to store items meant to be used in the bathroom where you actually use them. Nevertheless, the high humidity levels that reign supreme in the bathroom are not the optimal storage environment for most of these household items.

Here is why these items should not be left in the bathroom!

1. Medications

You might also be storing your medicine cabinet in the bathroom, but this is a poor housekeeping habit you must change now. Vitamin supplements and medications must be preserved in an ambient temperature and in a dry place.

The bathroom usually has elevated humidity levels that might decrease the potency and effectiveness of the items inside your medicine cabinet.

2. Bath Towels

It is approved that the bathroom is an ideal area for bacteria, mold, and mildew to grow and breed. Bath towels are usually humid; if they do not dry properly, they will be easily subjected to mold and mildew.

You can keep one towel in the bathroom if you are going to ensure it is changed on a weekly basis. Also, for further precaution, switch on the exhaust fan to decrease the humidity levels therein.

3. Bath Robes

These are items we need in the bathroom only, still, we should never leave them there. Similar to bath towels, bath robes should also be kept in a dry area so as not to be fertile breeding ground for bacteria and fungi. Allow them to dry after each use in an open area.

4. Books to Read

You might be into having books to read around the bathroom, either when you are taking a bath or doing another business. However, storing them in the bathroom is an awful idea.

The paper materials will soak up all the humidity and moisture, deteriorating the quality of your books’ papers. The pages may also start to dissociate.

5. Jewelry Boxes

Some people like to devote a whole area inside the bathroom for their jewelry boxes, but we are happy to tell you to just spare the effort. Your beloved accessories will deteriorate and blacken owing to the moisture and humidity inside the bathroom. Your jewelry boxes resemble your medicine cabinet as they both need to be stored in a dry environment away from humidity.

6. Your Tooth Brush

You have certainly heard about the horrifying evidence that your tooth brush might have fecal matter on it because of the toilet water you flush openly. This is unfortunately not fake news!

Your tooth brush is harboring uncountable numbers of bacteria just by sitting in your bathroom. To preserve it from all the germs out there, never flush the toilet before closing the lid. For utter protection, do not store your tooth brush in the bathroom.

7.  Makeup Products

It should be common sense that makeup products ought to be intactly stockpiled to maintain their quality. In the event you leave them inside the bathroom, they will soak up the moisture and will become a fertile ground for mold and mildew. This will sadly be inflicted on your skin health.

8. Cologne and Perfumes

Elevated humidity levels and perfumes are simply a no-no. Fragrance specialists warn against leaving one’s cologne and perfumes in an area where the temperature is never stable, and that is the bathroom for instance.

The molecular consistency of your fragrances will alter, causing the scent to change and the safety of the fragrance on the skin to drop.

9. Razor Blades

Same as the tooth brushes, if you keep your razor blades in an open area in the bathroom, the bacteria in the toilet water will disperse and stick to the blades; they will end up in your sensitive areas and might lead to serious health problems.

Never flush the toilet if you have not closed the lid; this should be a house rule! Also, the high humidity levels will eventually shorten the lifespan of your razor blades.

10. Nail Polish

Almost all nail polish containers are meant to have a lifespan of approximately a couple of years. However, leaving them in the bathroom will certainly cut the period short.

High temperature and moisture are yet again to blame; they ruin the storage of almost all your household items. That being said, the bathroom is not a storage space for whichever you want to preserve.
