Prescription medications need your doctor’s approval in order to fill them. An over-the-counter (OTC) cold and flu medicine however can be purchased at the drugstore.

You may increase your degree of safety by consulting a doctor first, followed by a pharmacist, to make sure you won’t have an adverse reaction to the medication.

1. Recalls of Popular Drugs Have Occurred Frequently Recently

Both prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications must pass a rigorous vetting process before they are allowed to enter pharmacies and then your medicine cabinet.

Recalls, however, are occasionally required to maintain public safety when authorities learn they potentially represent any form of possible harm.

One such event happened last month, and the FDA recall list included a 10 mL single-dose vial popularly identified by the branded product Zovirax.

The business claimed that it recalled the medication in response to a complaint that pointed out the existence of dark materials inside the container.

In the same week, Walmart was selling tablets advertised for male sexual enhancement online, and the FDA issued another recall involving those pills.

Currently, the organization has released a new caution regarding a prescription medication you could be using for high blood pressure.

2. The FDA Has Just Recalled a Popular Blood Pressure Drug

The FDA said on October 24 that two particular lots of Quinapril and Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets had been voluntarily recalled. The impacted products were first distributed by the corporation to customers nationally in May 2021.

Plastic bottles contain the pills that are subject to the recall. The tablets are divided, spherical, and pink, as stated by the agency’s notification. These two lots, according to the FDA, are indicated for the treatment of hypertension.

3. Due to a Possible Health Risk, the Manufacturer Recalled the Items

The company claims it announced the recall after learning the tablets comprised Nitrosamine Drug Substance Related Impurity (NDSRI).

The agency’s recall warning states that water and meals like cured and roasted meats, milk and cheese goods, and vegetables frequently contain nitrosamines at lower concentrations.

The FDA cautions, nevertheless, that exposure to larger concentrations for longer periods of time may raise a person’s chance of developing cancer.

4. Contact Your Doctor If You Have the Recalled Drugs

According to the FDA, no reports of unfavorable medical occurrences connected to the impacted item have been made thus far.

To find out whether to continue taking the drug or explore an alternative solution prior to returning their medication, the FDA advises anyone who is using the blood pressure medications recalled to urgently call their doctor or health professional.

The business claims it would start by phoning distributors, selecting consumers, and sending them written requests so they may start asking all affected accounts to return the drugs.

Anyone who believes they may have encountered negative side effects from taking even pain relievers is advised by the FDA to contact their doctor right away.

Those with additional inquiries or worries should get in touch with the hotline or the email address provided on the recall notice.
