Voluntarily recalling a specific drug might not always be something that is very severe, but it is not something that should be ignored either, because if injuries happen due to a certain recalled drug then the injuries could even end up being fatal.
That is why it is best not to risk consuming any drug that has been recalled. More on this below to know which drug is being recalled exactly and what to do next if you think that you have come across it as a patient.
The drug that is being recalled is the 0.9% sodium chloride for injection USP 250 ML from B. Braun medical around the US. This drug had already been circulating in hospitals and had been distributed prior.
The company in question announced the recall on March 2nd, but it was not published the same day. About 5 lots were recalled in this announcement and most of them had the expiration date of June 2022.

The company saw that a recall was fitting because of a leakage in fluid, or in other words, low fill volume in the containers. Professionals elaborate on this by saying that this leak could put the patient at risk of getting an infection, which is not only harmful, but also dangerous.
So if the product is not recalled, this leakage can jeopardize both the patient’s health and the company’s reputation in the medical and/or pharmaceutical field.
Although it probably is not very likely for it to happen, it is still a risk regardless. Fortunately though, B. Braun has not had any mishaps happen at this stage.
The company is urging anyone who has received their product to stop using it completely and get in touch with customer service in order to manage a product return as soon as possible.
