Diabetes is one of the most prevalent and debilitating diseases. Type 2 diabetes makes it so that your body cannot control its own blood sugar levels because it cannot properly produce insulin.
Whenever you eat something, your body will automatically secrete insulin from the pancreas to facilitate the meal and to keep the blood sugar balance in check, but if the body cannot produce insulin, then this brings out another challenge altogether.
This is why living with diabetes is very difficult and sometimes people might even have it without even knowing it. In this article, we bring you some signs that you might have diabetes and one sure sign that you do.
The number one thing on the list is that you feel more thirsty than usual and you feel this way often, this is a common byproduct of the early and preliminary stages of the incubation of diabetes. It could mean that your blood sugar level is high.

Since there will be an excess amount of sugar in your body, the kidney will try to work more diligently in trying to remove as much of it as possible. When this happens, you will urinate more often, and as a result, you will end up feeling thirstier.
Another slight symptom of diabetes is the overall lethargy that it brings along. You will most likely feel tired for most of the day despite getting good sleep and proper meals, but since that food was never really taken up by the body and is still floating inside the blood, you don’t get any energy from anything that you eat. This may very well be the reason you feel down and out most of the day.
Another symptom of diabetes is slow-healing wounds. This is especially true for the extremities of the body, which are often the most badly affected. Think of the blood vessels in the body like pipes. Sometimes, because of the excess blood sugar in the body, these pipes will get clogged and very little blood will reach the far ends of the body.
When this happens, it usually means that there will be very slow healing in that portion of the body especially since the blood is the thing that brings around the platelets; these are the cells that are responsible for binding of wounds.
Blurry vision is yet another sign of this very destructive disease. This is probably the most dangerous but not the most likely; unless of course, your diabetes has been left undiagnosed for a very long period of time.
The blockage of the vessels that lead to reduced healing of wounds also leads to the blockage of the vessels in the eyes. This causes blurry vision and if not treated immediately can even be the cause for blindness.
