Before the 2020 pandemic, Walmart was the place to be because it’s open 24 hours. You don’t need to buy a face mask because there was no use for it.
However, COVID changed many things, and retailers must help stop the spread of the virus. Today, they don’t observe long operating hours and some have even closed temporarily.
Walmart has changed over the years and now offers at-home tests, COVID vaccinations, and medication. Recently, it’s instituting another update to its chain of stores.
Kindly continue reading to learn what it is.
1. Walmart to Give Free N95 Masks Soon
Walmart shoppers may get free N95 masks in some stores by mid-February. According to the company, the face covers will be available in at least 5,100 Sam’s Clubs and Walmart stores around the country.
2. The Federal Government Project
The distribution of free N95 masks is an initiative of President Joe Biden, who announced that they would give away 400 million face masks to the U.S. residents.

According to Walmart officials, they are busy making communities safe and healthy by dispensing authorized medications for COVID, setting up testing sites, and providing venues for vaccine and booster administration. They are proud to distribute the N95 mask from the federal government.
3. Walmart Shoppers Can Take a Limited Number of N95 Masks
Moreover, shoppers can pick up the N95 masks in clubs and at the storefront. They can also find resources to ensure that their face masks fit. In addition, the public may obtain free face covers from Sam’s Club locations even if they’re not a member.
However, Walmart shoppers can only get three masks per person because the federal government wants more Americans to access the free N95 masks.
4. The Free N95 Masks Are Also Available in Other Stores
According to CDC, 21 retailers join the U.S. Federal Retail Pharmacy Program that distributes free masks. They include CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart.
According to Walgreens, their shoppers can now get their share of free face covers at stores nationwide, especially in Florida, New York, Arizona, Illinois, and Texas.
On the other hand, CVS doesn’t have a specific timeframe for the free mask distribution, but they will offer the N95 masks in 9,800 locations, including their stores at Schnucks and Target.
5. Why the CDC Recommends N95 Masks
The health agency recommends N95 masks in an updated CDC guidance because they provide the highest protection against the COVID virus.
These respirators can filter at least 95% of particulates, measuring at least 0.3 microns. Moreover, they create a tighter seal than the other types of masks.
Furthermore, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health inspected and approved the polypropylene mask that attracts foreign particles and traps them within the mask fibers.
6. How Many Times Should You Wear the N95 Mask?
The N95 mask is reusable, but the CDC recommends throwing them after five times of use because the straps may fray or deteriorate and not create a tight seal anymore. Moreover, it’s essential to cycle the N95 masks every four days.
