Heart attacks claim thousands of lives each year in the USA. But the signs of a heart attack aren’t always as obvious or dramatic as depicted in TV shows and films. At times, a massive heart attack might be very silent. In other cases, even a mild heart attack might show apparent symptoms.

Whether you have an upcoming major or a small heart attack, your body always gives off some signs. Heart attacks, even the most silent ones, cause chest pain.

Here are all the possible warning signs that your body shows when you are about to have a heart attack.

1. Chest Pain

A sense of tightness or pressure in your chest is one of the most common symptoms of anxiety. Chest pain is deemed the most alarming indicator for both a major and mild heart attack.

While in anxiety, this feeling goes away; those about to have a heart attack feel that someone is squeezing their chest. The pain might not let them fall asleep at times. On the other hand, a major heart attack might cause pain radiating to your jaws, stomach, back, and arms.

2. Fatigue

All of us feel fatigued after a hectic day. But if you feel fatigued for no reason, it might be a sign of a major or small heart attack.

3. Dizziness

A heart attack causes blockages in the heart’s arteries. When this happens, it might cause irregular blood flow to your brain. This makes you feel fatigued and, at times, dizzy. If you feel dizzy because you skipped a meal or was dehydrated, it might not be a sign of a heart attack. But if it happens without any reason, rush to the doctor at once!

4. Nausea and Indigestion

Obesity is one of the causes of heart attack. However, many obese people often experience indigestion because of the extra fat around the belly. To differentiate between acid reflux caused by obesity and a heart attack, notice any unusual signs. Almost 50% of heart attack survivors report experiencing abdominal pain before a heart attack.

5. Sweating

Cold sweating is a sign of an anxiety attack. But if there is no cause for anxiety, chest pain and cold sweating might indicate that you’re about to have a heart attack.

6. Irregular Heartbeat

Irregular heartbeats or palpitations are common if you have consumed a lot of coffee or have atrial fibrillation.  However, if you have never been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and are experiencing palpitations, it’s better to be safe and visit a doctor immediately for a consultation.

7. Shortness of Breath

It might be a sign of looming danger if you’ve not done anything that can cause shortness of breath. It is better to get checked out by your doctor if you experience shortness of breath without any reason, like asthma or anxiety attacks.

Final Words

Heart attacks might come silently or have obvious signs. If you have heart disease running in the family, you must know the signs of heart attacks. Thereby, you will be able to detect the heart attack before it does any damage.
