This is why it is essential to know what is going on in your body by asking the right questions to your physicians and getting the necessary medical testing.

It can be challenging to determine which screenings you must get and which aren’t necessary. So, to make things easier for you, we have enlisted five tests you should get done regularly to keep yourself safe from health hazards.

1. Colon Cancer Screening

One of the most common cancers in the United States, colon cancer causes death in 80% of cases. If you are above 40, you must get colon cancer screening every six months.

Although it is a hazardous cancer, most people don’t know that if caught early, the survival rate of colon cancer is 90%. If you have a family history of cancer, you must get a screening done regularly. These screenings can include a colonoscopy and stool DNA test.

You can always ask your doctor how long a colonoscopy takes before the test begins.

2. Blood Pressure Test

Another essential medic test for everyone over 40 is a blood pressure test. Doctors call hypertension, better known as high blood pressure, a silent killer.

It is a significant reason why people develop heart conditions. As you age, the intensity of hypertension increases which can cause severe damage to your health.

So, you can get a blood pressure test regularly to ensure your health is good.

3. Breast Cancer Screening

A mammogram is necessary for women over 40 to detect breast cancer early. If you’re wondering what is a mammogram, then don’t worry. We have the answer below.

It is an x-ray of breast screening in which the doctors determine any irregular or abnormal tissue development. It is a screening that every woman over 40 must get done in six months.

4. Cholesterol Blood Test

High cholesterol is another severe disease that can damage one’s health. High cholesterol does not always have symptoms, so it is better to get screening done every 2-3 months.

5. Diabetes Screening

Lastly, diabetes is a silent killer, just as hypertension and cholesterol are. The disease has no symptoms, and most people don’t even know they have diabetes until very late.

So, it is better to get the diabetes screening done and start your medication at the right time.

Final Thoughts

These are the five tests everyone over 40 must complete. You must remember the only way to fight such hazardous diseases is to prevent them from growing.
