If you ever find that utensils are misplaced in your house then it is not a cause for concern, but if however, you find a slightly twisted fork in front of your door then you might want to steer clear for it could mean bad news. Here’s why.

The fork is a very versatile and helpful tool in our everyday life. If you are a high school student on a budget, then you might find yourself using it every day to munch down some very delicious ramen noodles. It is also very handy if you need something with a slight bend to pry something open; the fork will often be a very useful friend. There is one place, however, where you don’t want to find a fork; especially if you didn’t put it there- and that place is your front or back door.

If you, for some odd reason, find one of those lying around the front of your house then you might need to call the police immediately. This is an apparent indication of a break-in, or an attempt to do so ,at best.

In the past, humans have been very astute with the way they have dealt with their personal belongings. They kept them safe behind locked doors, away from prying eyes, and always held them with the highest regard and made it a priority to keep them safe. As safe as they could keep it at least. But in doing so, they created for themselves an inadvertent problem.

You see, it is fundamental human nature to want to solve problems. It is the very reason humans have been given the names homo sapiens; sapiens means wise and discerning. No wonder then that humans always try to solve problems; even ones that they themselves create like climate change and war, for example.

But let’s stick to the point, when a thief or a burglar sees that you hold something in your house with such esteem, then naturally, like a moth to a distant moon, they will be attracted to it and will want to see what priceless jewelry, art, or treasure you might be keeping. This ignites their curiosity, and not in a good way.

Humans have always found challenges to be fun and a test of their skills; as if they have something to prove. Well, it turns out that even if they don’t, they will want to try to overreach anyway because, for them, that is what progress is all about. If the world was always stagnant then there would be no need for the cyber security of locks because people wouldn’t bother to break them or find ways to bypass them.

So, essentially, a fork is shaped in a very similar way to a rake. If you are familiar with the tools used for lock picking, you will know that a rake is what people use to align on the pins on the top of a lock so that the wrench can twist and open it. That’s why a bent fork anywhere near your door is bad news.
