It seems like we are quite close to the end of the coronavirus pandemic, which is adversely affecting the globe. A major decrease in the number of Covid patients in the USA has been followed by the lifting of many restrictions such as mask requirements and vaccine mandates.
This decrease in numbers can be attributed to the Covid-19 vaccine and the large number of individuals who are now fully vaccinated. However, as the end to the pandemic draws near, it is necessary that we fulfil all the requirements to achieve this end, and that includes getting booster shots.
Ever since the advent of the Omicron variant, people are delaying their booster shots in order to get an omicron booster but virus experts are strictly against this delay.
1. How long till the Omicron booster?
Even though researchers are diligently working on coming up with an Omicron booster ever since the variant emerged, it might take quite some months until a fully functional Omicron booster shot is formulated. Recently, Omicron booster formulation was delayed with some experts claiming that it might not even be needed to end the pandemic.

The Omicron vaccine is still in its trial stage and vaccination companies are unsure whether this variant-specific vaccine is any better than the original vaccine and its booster shots. Therefore, there is no point in waiting around for Omicron booster shots as that will only hinder the effective ending of the pandemic.
Virus experts state that the coronavirus vaccines act really well and then gradually lose their effectiveness so it is necessary to treat it as a three-phase procedure with two doses of the vaccine followed by a booster shot at the right time with no delays.
2. Consequences of the delay
Delaying booster shots can lead to a surge of Covid-19 cases once the effects of the vaccine wear off. Vaccination companies state,”If the wave ends, that does not mean it can not begin again” which means we must be up to date with vaccinations and booster shots.
The USA is about to face a boosting problem as only 43 percent of the people, who were eligible for a booster shot, received it. If the rate stays this low, the progress made by the country could be lost and it could face another variant of Covid-19.
Every citizen in the US who has gotten their first and second dose of the vaccine must not wait for an omicron booster and just get the normal one so that the coronavirus pandemic can effectively be brought to its end.
However, if you still hope to get the Omicron booster in the future, you can get it after it is available even after you’ve received a normal booster shot so you need not worry about that.

Have you received your booster shot? If not, we urge you to get it as soon as possible if you are a responsible US citizen and wish to see the end of the pandemic just like us.
