Imagine being a 10-year-old. You could gobble up your entire trick-or-treat candy in a day. Then, when you grew to fifteen, you started disliking the overly sweet foods you loved as a kid, but you started eating fast foods like pizza and hamburgers. Then came your 20s, when you were a night owl, and midnight snacks were a routine.
But as you approached your 30s, you became more conscious about your diet choices. Even a tiny portion of excess would lead you to bloating and weight gain. Then you learned that exercising should be included in your routine just like that morning cup of coffee.
Even though you have had this “revelation”, you are probably still making this one mistake that will have you regretting it in your 50s.
1. Sleep Habits – 30s
You could probably pull off all-nighters when you were younger without another thought. However, as you begin your 30s, late night parties seem tiring. Instead, you’d rather stay home and go to bed on time.

But, if your job requires you to work into the wee hours at night, you are probably doing something that will impact your health and increase the threat of developing chronic disease in the later years.
Sleeping at night in your 30s is a must because it helps the production of fighter cells. Lesser sleep means compromised immunity. You could even get a chronic disease if you don’t get enough sleep in your 30s.
2. Sleep Habits – 50s
When you reach 50, your body’s ability to produce the fighter cells reduces significantly. So even though you cannot get sound sleep when you reach 50 years of age, you should get the recommended amount of sleep. You can either sleep early and rise early or sleep twice or thrice a day to get enough sleep.
The reason is that when you hit your 50s, your body is not producing fighter cells at the rate it used to. So, you are more likely to catch viruses like flu and pneumonia. This is why older people were the first priority for the vaccine during the pandemic.
3. Poor Nutrition
When you’re 50 or above, your organs start to weaken. As a result, you cannot extract as much nutritional value from foods as you used to in your 30s or even in your 40s.
Reduced nutrition can impact your brain function. If you’re already compromising your sleep in your 30s or 40s, you are also at risk of mental health issues.
