In 2014, a fitness expert called Shannon Cooper gave birth to a beautiful little girl, Grace. At that moment, and because of her 15 years of fitness experience, she decided to put her daughter on a certain diet from day 1.
Many health scientists and pediatricians raised concerns about potentially blocking the growth of the little girl. But Shannon was determined, and the results of her decision speak louder than any non-believers.
What is this diet? And, most importantly, did it benefit or harm little Grace? All of that and more in today’s article!
To begin, Shannon Cooper has an experience of 15 years in diet and fitness coaching. She understands the importance of our food on our health and well-being. But Shan is not merely concerned with what you eat, she goes beyond that.
The concept is simple: even if you’re eating fresh and nutritious meat, it won’t matter if the animal consumed unhealthy foods while still alive. The same unhealthy or even poisonous food will pass directly to your own system.

That’s why, Shannon is determined to only eat and feed her daughter perfectly whole and healthy meals. She picks her recipes based on which produce is in season, buys her meat and animal products from bio farms. Additionally, she refuses to consume canned or processed foods filled with carbs, sugar, and unhealthy additives. She truly lives by the principle of “You Are What You Eat Ate”!
The Paleo diet is inspired by the lifestyle of cavemen who lived during the Paleolithic Era or the early Stone Age. They were hunter-gatherers, which means that their foods consisted of meat, fish, fresh fruits, and veggies.
Shan discovered the Paleo diet in 2010 while searching for ways to make her feel better through consuming healthier foods. Before that, she suffered from food allergies and overall bad well-being because of the unhealthy stuff she fed her body.
Now, she believes that food can either be fuel or poison for the body, so why not opt for the healthy option? After she started following the diet, her overall mood and well-being skyrocketed. Consequently, and just like any mother would want, she wanted her new-born baby girl to feel as great as her mother.
Did you know that free hens produce eggs with higher contents of omega-3 fatty acids than caged ones? This shows how harmful our new farming styles and techniques are to our food. This is why the Paleo diet is so important and nutritious.
By following the Paleo diet, we benefit from whole foods packed with nutrients. These include vitamins, minerals, fibers, protein, and so on. We also rid our bodies from unhealthy and poisonous additives and food preservatives.
Although the Paleo diet seems to have it all, it unfortunately doesn’t allow many foods that improve new-born babies’ growth. Foods like grains, legumes, and dairy are a No-No! This is mainly why many pediatricians and doctors disagreed with Shan’s decision at first. After Shannon consulted a pediatrician before the birth of Grace, he advised her to be careful and not to force it.
What’s more is that cavemen weren’t generally healthier than us. They suffered from parasites, which could harm a little baby. The Paleo diet is amazing for an adult person, but is it really complementary to a little girl’s growth?
Turns out, the doctors made a huge mistake with their assumptions!
The Paleo diet does not include breast milk because it’s considered dairy. But because Shan understands the importance of breast milk for a new-born, she decided to allow it for the first 13 months of Grace’s life.
After 13 months, she started making Grace’s food at home, which meant that it was packed with nutrients and healthy foods! Shannon’s recipes included delicacies like Zucchini noodles, eggs, roasted or boiled veggies, and, of course, fresh fruits for snacks.
Grace is completely in love with what she eats. She enjoys eating green veggies, which is unusual for a small little girl! As for her health, Shannon revealed that Grace only fell sick once during her first 4 years in spite of being around sick kids all the time, and it was only a mild cold.
This means that Grace’s immunity is much stronger compared to her peers and for someone her age. She seems very happy and Healthy, which encouraged Shannon to share her experience and recipes through Instagram and her published E-books!
Shannon revealed that she won’t stop Grace from eating foods that don’t satisfy the Paleo diet’s standards. She’ll let her explore and learn on her own, and then decide for herself. The amazing benefits of the Paleo diet are clear as day, but if Grace thinks otherwise, then Shannon insists that she’ll let her choose as she likes!
