In the past few years, the FDA has issued several listeria contamination recalls for health concerns. Some products have potential listeria contamination in the meat. In other cases, the lettuce in salad kits is to blame.
This time, the brand “Revolution Farms” recalls many of its premade salad boxes and salad kits over a potential occurrence of Listeria monocytogenes.
In this case, the FDA issued a country-wide warning since the brand voluntarily recalled the products upon suspicion and then confirmed the listeria contamination.
Read on to find out which affected products and batches can severely harm your health.

1. Which Products Has the FDA Recalled?
The FDA recalls products when the ingredients are potentially contaminated, mislabeled, or don’t mention the complete list of ingredients used to manufacture the product. This is a case of listeria contamination of vegetable products for which the FDA issued a warning in April.
Revolution Farms voluntarily recalled a few of its lettuce-based products at the beginning of April. They believed that a batch of the lettuce produced was contaminated.
However, upon further inspection, the brand found that the entire farm’s production of lettuce, kale, and its popular romaine lettuce has traces of Listeria monocytogenes. So, the brand recalled all its products under listeria contamination recalls.
So, return any Revolution Farm products that you purchased from these states during March–April 2023:
- Wisconsin
- Kentucky
- Illinois
- Indiana
- Ohio
- Michigan
2. Meijer Listeria Food Recalls
Meijer is a brand that sources lettuce for its salad kits from Revolution Farms. So, it recalled a few batches of its pre-made salad on 7th April. The affected batches included the following products:
- Fresh From Meijer
- Meijer Cobb Salad
- Meijer Chicken BLT Salad
- Tomato Caprese Salad
- Meijer Chicken Caesar Salad
3. Fresh Express Listeria Food Recalls
On April 7, another brand called “Fresh Express” recalled its salad kit products. Small batches of three product varieties were expired and mistakenly packed and shipped to superstores across South and North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
Chopped Chipotle Cheddar kits of the same brand were also among the affected batches. Along with the previously identified four states, the business also sent these kits to Virginia.
So, if you purchased Fresh Express products from either of these states during March-April, check if the product is among the three above-mentioned varieties.
Final Words
For health concerns, the FDA recalls several products each month because of contamination and mislabeling issues. This time, the companies voluntarily recalled the products because they wanted to preserve their established brand names.
Through this move, the brand will not get a blow as huge as it would have gotten if the FDA detected the listeria contamination and then recalled the products. This shows that the brand is keen on quality assurance and repeatedly checks its products for potential issues.
