We all have moments where we forget things or misplace them, like forgetting where you put your keys or your bag. Overall, having a foggy memory is completely normal and so many people experience it.

However, what can be actually tricky is trying to find out whether this is an issue you have to worry about or does it simply come with the territory of being a part of a busy hectic life.

Although this has no answer yet, it is important to remember that eating habits do affect this quite a lot and they could end up helping you improve your health in that regard, because whatever goes into our system gets distributed to all of our organs and it could ultimately alter how everything functions.

Consuming some fast food is not what’s going to wreck your brain, but if the consumption lasts and is prominent over a long period of time, then that could put you at the risk of cancer, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes.

The first food that might be making your brain age faster is red meat. Consuming too much of this is obviously not good for you. How, you might ask? Well the way this works is through something called the brain-gut connection.

Science states that an unbalanced blend of the healthy versus unhealthy bacteria can definitely have an impact on our brain. More specifically noradrenaline, dopamine, as well as serotonin, these are responsible for learning as well as memory.

A recent study published revealed that excessive consumption of red meat has been linked to a higher risk of heart attacks and strokes.

The second food would be cane sugar and high fructose corn syrup. Fructose is usually found in the healthy fresh fruits, however, it also exists in the processed foods or processed sugar that keeps consumers constantly on the cycle to get more of it because it improves the flavor.

This is very prominent when it comes to soft drinks, canned soups, baked goods or even bread. If this is consumed over a long period of time then it can definitely drag down your brain’s performance.

You can definitely eat those foods and/or drinks, just do not overindulge. A study stated that the average American consumes about 47 pounds of this over a year, which is a huge amount to be getting in your system.

Anything that is fried, including fries, chicken, onion rings, jalapeño poppers, battered Oreo cookies, are all very highly processed.

And since this article has sprinkled here and there how terrible processed food is for your brain, then it is needless to say that the same happens here.

Processed foods are the most inflammatory edible things you can get your hands on. What does this lead to overtime? A stroke!

Aside from strokes, studies have been showing that cognitive decline has also been linked to consuming this type of food.

Cognitive decline was not the only issue here, but also executive functions such as juggling more than one task at once.
