After turning out the lights, you prepare for a nap. Do you lie on your abdomen, sides, or back? These intriguing correlations have been seen, even though there is not much scientific evidence linking your sleeping ways to factors like low back pain, snoring problems, character, or how frequently you wake up throughout the night.

1. Belly Sleeping

Are you a stomach sleeper? If so, do you have trouble falling asleep? The way you are sleeping could not be helpful. When you sleep on your stomach, you are inclined to be uncomfortable and switch positions in an attempt to find comfort.

It might also put tension on your lower spinal column and neck. Should this be your best sleeping method, you might wish to use a very thin cushion or nothing at all.

2. Freefall Position

The freefall is how roughly 7% of individuals sleep. You recline on your stomach, face tilted upside-down, your arms encircling a comforter. According to some sleep studies, if this is your preferred sleeping position, you might be more extroverted, gregarious, and inclined to speak your opinion. You might not be a very accepting person.

3. Back Sleeping

Some folks may have low back pain when spending the night stuck in this very position. And it might get worse if you are already experiencing that. Increased severity of sleep apnea and snoring may also result from it. Consult your doctor about possible solutions if you are experiencing any of these problems and are unable to find a solution for yourself.

4. Soldier Position

Approximately 8% of people embrace this position. You rest your arms near your body and lie down when you sleep. According to some sleep studies, your personality might be more predisposed to peacefulness and calmness. You might have high expectations of both other people and yourself.

5. Starfish Position

This is the position that only 5 percent of people choose to sleep well. With your arms raised close to your head, you lay on your back. Some research suggests that you could be more inclined to listen well and avoid becoming the center of focus.

6. Side Sleeping

The most pleasant posture for side sleeping is the fetal position, which involves bending your knees gently toward the center of your chest.

7. Curled-Up Sleeping

Over forty percent of people sleep on their sides, curled up. Women favor this sleeping way even more than men do, making it almost women’s preferred sleeping way. According to some research, you might have a shell of safety around you even though you might be more extroverted, gregarious, and sensitive.

8. Log Position

This is the position when you lay on one side with both of your hands bent. 15% of individuals sleep like a log. According to some studies, you might have a convivial, relaxed, and confiding personality.

9. Yearner Position

Approximately 13% of individuals sleep on their sides, mostly arms extended next to them. According to some research, if you sleep in this manner, you might be tolerant yet wary and unyielding in your commitment to your decisions.

BONUS: Importance of Your Bed Mattress

A bed mattress that fits your shape and sleep preferences might be beneficial for a variety of problems. It needs to be both lightweight and sufficiently rigid to conform to your body’s curves while supporting your back and sleeping position.

Figuring this out is not always simple. A few retailers will allow you to experience a bed mattress for a few weeks and exchange it if it is not comfortable for you or does not fix your sleeping problems.
