COVID-19, measles, norovirus, and most recently avian influenza, aka the bird flu, are just a few of the numerous health issues that alarm people these days. In order to inform the public of a newly documented case of bird flu in humans in the United States, the CDC released a health notice on April 5.

A farm worker on an industrial dairy farm in Texas got hospitalized in late March and tested positive for avian influenza, according to the CDC’s advisory. Health experts think that local cows may have disseminated the virus to the patient.

There have only ever been two verified cases of avian flu in humans in this nation. The US government has been researching and getting ready for the avian influenza outbreak. It is clear that authorities want to treat this very closely given that it has extended to a human case.

It is critical that individuals understand how minimal danger is, though. The CDC reports that as of April 3, over eight million poultry and over nine thousand wild bird species countrywide were afflicted with the virus in question.

However, the government claims that human-to-human transmission of the modern viruses that are presently prevalent in the nation’s bird species has not been documented and that avian influenza Type A pathogens do not commonly attack people.

Nonetheless, this second case shows that infections in humans can happen and can even be fatal. It is critical to understand the warning signals of viruses in order to protect oneself.

Continue reading to learn more about the bird flu symptoms that people can experience from avian flu!

1. Eye Irritation and Redness

The staff member at the dairy farm in Texas, who is now the second person in the United States to have been diagnosed with avian flu, simply experienced eye irritation and redness. This is one possible symptom of avian flu in humans, according to the CDC.

2. Persistent Daytime Fatigue

There was just one sign experienced by the first individual infected with bird flu in the United States, yet, it was not eye irritation. Rather, the CDC reports that the Colorado patient’s only indication was daytime fatigue for a few days.

3. High Fever

High fever, defined as a body temperature of 38°C or higher, is a different probably symptom of bird flu in human beings. However, according to some health experts, a high temperature could occasionally be present, and rather only being generally feverish may also be a sign.

4. Flu-Like Signs

As implied by its name, bird flu can resemble the common flu symptoms that affect humans. Upper respiratory symptoms, including coughing, throat discomfort, congestion, migraines, body or muscular pain, and difficulty breathing, might occur, according to the CDC.

5. Gut Issues

Your bird flu may begin with those typical signs of the flu, but if it gets worse, you may have problems in other areas of your body. This implies that gut issues like nausea, abdominal pain, bowel movements, and throwing up may take place.

6. Brain Seizures

Seizures are another potential, though less frequent, sign of the bird flu in people, reported the CDC. This is due to the possibility that when the virus grows more severe, it may lead to brain seizures, altering the brain or neurological system. You may observe changes in thought or behavior as a result.
