Heart failure occurs when the heart fails to adequately circulate blood and oxygen to the body, which can be due to a weakened heart muscle or other factors affecting the heart’s efficiency. Although aging is a common factor that contributes to heart failure, this condition can also affect individuals at a young age.

Let’s find out below five symptoms of the disease that seriously jeopardizes your heart health!

1. Chronic Fatigue

When the heart is not functioning effectively, the brain will redirect blood from less critical regions of the body, such as the muscles in your arms and legs, to vital organs like the brain.

This can result in feelings of weakness in your limbs, making it difficult to perform everyday tasks such as climbing stairs or walking across a room. Additionally, this may lead you to experience chronic fatigue and occasional dizziness.

2. Shortness of Breath

This symptom is frequently one of the first to be noticed, especially after strenuous exertion. As heart failure worsens, it might even happen while you are resting. On rare occasions, you could feel a shortness of breath when resting or sleeping.

This happens when the heart muscle is unable to manage the blood flow returning from the lungs effectively, which causes fluid to seep into the lungs. As a result, breathing becomes more difficult.

3. Wheezing Cough

This is just another indication that your heart health is in trouble, as your heart muscle is pumping blood back to the lungs, which is causing the blood to roll back.

This implies that liquid enters your lungs. The wheezing cough occasionally produces reddish or pink mucus. Inform your doctor if this is a problem you are having.

4. Weight Gain

Likewise, fluid may build up in organs. Your legs, knees, ankles, or tummy may expand as a result. The kidneys may not eliminate salt as effectively since they are working with less blood.

Additional liquid would remain in your tissues as a result. If you have had abrupt weight gain or chronic edema, consult your doctor right away.

5. Confusion and Nausea

You may start to show signs of confusion, disorientation, and oblivion. The quantity of various compounds in the blood is impacted when other organs are not functioning properly due to a shortage of blood.

Heart failure can also make you feel full and unable to eat anymore. In any case, that can result in persistent nausea and a lack of hunger. Your digestive tract is not receiving enough blood and oxygen, which is why this occurs.

Bottom Line

Your heart health is extremely important. If you notice persistent symptoms, including shortness of breath, chronic fatigue, a wheezing cough, or sudden weight gain, check with your cardiologist before you get an unpredictable heart attack.

If you suffer from heart failure, though, this is not the end of the world. You can still adapt to the healthy lifestyle that your doctor recommends and still live your life to the fullest.
