There are different kinds of joint pain conditions that can be managed with herbal remedies. Although these herbs are not meant to heal, they can effectively help alleviate symptoms.

In the particular case of rheumatoid arthritis, there are a few herbs with anti-inflammatory properties that can prove very useful for pain relief.

You should first know that the best treatment for rheumatoid arthritis is the one that is prescribed to you by your doctor. Some of these herbal solutions might have negative effects when combined with other remedies.

So, before you initiate any alternative treatment for rheumatoid arthritis, consult your physician.

With that in mind, here are 8 of the most effective herbs that help relieve arthritis pain and joint pain.

1. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a favorite in alternative medicine. It can be used as a leaf, powder, gel, and even pills. Besides being optimal for treating sunburn and small skin wounds, it also offers efficient pain relief for rheumatoid arthritis.

This plant is an anti-inflammatory remedy that does not impact the gastrointestinal system, unlike many arthritis pain medications. Besides, you may safely apply it directly to the skin.

2. Boswellia

Boswellia, or frankincense, is a very popular anti-inflammatory solution. It might just be the best pain reliever for joint pain and stiffness. But use it moderately, as frequent use might have an undesirable effect on the liver.

3. Cat’s Claw

Cat’s claw is a plant native to South and Central America that is very commonly used for rheumatoid arthritis pain management.

It also works great as an immune system booster. It can reduce both pain and swelling, but it may induce some side effects, such as nausea and low blood pressure.

4. Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus is one of the most popular ingredients in herbal treatments. Its extract contains tannins, which are great for rheumatoid arthritis pain relief. Just aromatherapy can help ease the pain.

All you need to do is dilute eucalyptus essential oil with a carrier oil. Then, mix 15 drops of that mixture with 2 tablespoons of almond oil.

When using topical eucalyptus, it is best to do a patch test 48h prior to use.

5. Ginger

Many people already utilize ginger to ease cold and flu symptoms, such as a sore throat. But the same anti-inflammatory properties also provide pain relief for rheumatoid arthritis, working as a natural replacement to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory meds.

You can make tea by infusing ginger. Or you can add powdered ginger to baked goods, salads, or other dishes.

6. Green Tea

The popularity of green tea has increased remarkably over the last few decades. Matcha, in particular, is now a daily staple in many morning routines.

It is beneficial in many ways, but as it is filled with antioxidants, it can particularly help alleviate rheumatoid arthritis symptoms.

Besides, it is a healthy and delicious alternative to coffee and other drinks, just as long as you don’t sweeten it.

7. Turmeric

Turmeric is most commonly used to season and color savory dishes. Some people like to enjoy it as tea, too.

And it has terrific anti-inflammatory properties, which is why it is a recurrent treatment in Eastern medicine for rheumatoid arthritis.

8. Willow Bark

The ancient folk used willow bark to treat a variety of inflammatory conditions. It may be consumed as an infusion in table form.

But although it may be great for rheumatoid arthritis relief, it may induce some unpleasant side effects in a few people, including an upset stomach and high blood pressure. So use it carefully.
